  20. As part of the continued initiative aimed at creating a consensus
  21. glossary of temporal database concepts and terms, YOU ARE INVITED TO
  22. PROPOSE NEW TERMS AND CONCEPTS that may be added to the current set of
  23. definitions. Comments (including modifications) on existing
  24. definitions are also welcome. All material should be submitted to the
  25. mailing list tsql@cs.arizona.edu.

  27. An initial glossary was published in the September 1992 issue of the
  28. SIGMOD Record, and a status document was distributed in December 1992.
  29. Status documents are made available every three months, so A NEW
  30. STATUS DOCUMENT WILL BE RELEASED IN ABOUT ONE WEEK. This document is
  31. an important one because the following document will be prepared for
  32. the International Workshop on an Infrastructure for Temporal
  33. Databases, in Dallas, TX, June 1993.

  35. Since the previous status document in December, about thirty complete
  36. glossary entries have been proposed, in addition to a number of
  37. improvements of existing glossary entries. The glossary entries cover
  38. topics such as the relationship between spatial and temporal
  39. databases, normalization theory, calendars, joins, temporal
  40. indeterminacy, and temporal aggregation.

  42. Additional information regarding the status of the initiative is
  43. available by anonymous ftp from cs.arizona.edu, in the "tsql"
  44. directory.
